Special Programmes
The English as a Second Language (ESL) Programme
International British Academy offers the English as a Second Language (ESL) programme to non-native speakers of English whose English Assessment Test result show that they have insufficient English proficiency to be successful in the mainstream programme. To prepare the student for probable transfer into the mainstream programme, integrated in the ESL programme are instructions in Mathematics and Science. The ESL students are also immersed in academic foundational subjects like Art, P.E. and/or Music to enhance their learning of the English language. ESL students have to pass the Academic Assessment process which includes English proficiency, Mathematics and Science tests and personal interviews with the heads of the academic departments in order to transfer to the mainstream programme.
Summer and Winter Programmes
International British Academy also offers short-term English as a Second Language (ESL) courses ranging from four to six weeks in July and January.
All ESL programmes include an out-of-town ESL camp.
